Milton Keynes NHS Case Study

Introduction

Milton Keynes NHS Trust, now Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, is a medium-sized general hospital providing comprehensive acute and specialist services to the growing population of Milton Keynes and surrounding areas. With 550 beds and over 4,000 staff, the hospital serves hundreds of thousands of patients annually and continues to invest in facilities and services to meet evolving healthcare needs. It also houses the country’s first independent Medical School in partnership with the University of Buckingham.

Challenge

Hydro-X Training began the relationship with Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in early 2022 on the back of a working history with our Business Development Manager Yasmeen Bashir in a previous life.

The Trust and Yasmeen identified a number of areas that required attention on their training matrix including fire safety, general health and safety, mechanical, electrical, and construction. The main hurdle for the Trust, however, was the logistics.

The logistic issues that present themselves at many hospitals are release patterns for their staff and this is something that we are able to support and collaborate with.

Solution

Yasmeen worked directly with their Estates Senior Engineer and their PA to the Associate Directors of Estates and Estates Service Manager to understand the requirements of the Trust and their teams.

After initial discussions and consultation with Yasmeen, the Trust was happy to proceed with a number of courses at the beginning of 2022 which aligned with their training matrix. This included the following courses:

In light of the obstacles which the Trust faced, they were very proactive in confirming and prioritising safety and compliance training. Yasmeen and their PA to the Associate Directors of Estates and Estates Service Manager worked very well together in coordinating the training with staff shift release patterns.

Value Added

Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has now worked through an abundance of their training matrix to ensure compliance across the team with up-to-date certification including City & Guilds accreditation.

On top of this, their team has continued to utilise our training solutions and, has now booked further courses including Authorised Person Low Voltage training and are looking at other areas across our portfolio to strengthen their compliance.

We look forward to continuing this fruitful relationship with Mark and the team.

“I would like to thank Yasmeen at Hydro-X for sourcing and planning the training requirements for the estate’s team at MKUH,

The training facilities are second to none, and the courses are always delivered by very knowledgeable first-class lecturers, for our Hospital engineering needs.

The team always enjoy the training, may it continue.” Mark
